Regardless of who you are and how old you are, we will be there to help check this off your bucket list. The Everest region is one of the world’s most popular and spectacular trekking destinations and is famous for its spectacular mountain peaks, including Mt. Everest (8,848m) and several other giants and it has lured many people to experience it. Prepare for the most significant adventure yet – the Everest Base Camp trek. This famed trek may sound daunting, but it’s sure to take your breath away.
Join us on this awe-inspiring Trek to Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar and witness the world’s highest marathon at the same time taking place on 29th May. This event celebrates the historical ascent on Mt. Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa on 29th May 1953. Each year hundreds of participants join this Everest Marathon. SPACES ARE VERY LIMITED.
The trip begins at Kathmandu, where you can visit some of the stunning Unesco Heritage sites or head on to the valley for its scenic views. From Kathmandu, we will fly on to Lukla and will go through the bustling market village of Namche Bazar, the Sherpa capital of the Khumbu. The rich Sherpa culture and their friendly nature are an added extra bonus on this awe-inspiring trip. We will them go through Tengboche, the home of Nepal’s most famous monastery, situated beneath the impressive backdrop of Everest and Ama Dablam (6,856m), to name but a few. The most challenging part of this trip will be the hike across Khumbu Glacier to reach our final goal to Everest Base Camp, and the hike up to Kala Patthar – the highest point – for its breath-taking view.
The Marathon day is on 29th May and we will witness it from Finish Line at Yak Parking Lot (Chor Camp), Namche Bazaar, near the Sherpa Culture Museum.
This popular trek isn’t just culturally awe-inspiring; it also boasts of its beautiful trails. Experience being on top of the world and indulge in one of the most stunning views you’ll ever come across.

We at Himalayan Treks allow full customisation for our customers, which is why we also have add-ons and trip extensions which can be perused by interested trekkers. Some popular trip extensions availed by our clients include a day or more exploring the historic sites of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur or why not pay a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Chitwan National Park. Likewise, it’s also possible to extend your trek to link it with other treks in the same Everest area, for instance the Gokyo Valley trek. However, if you are looking for a different experience altogether, we can recommend the Annapurna Circuit trek or the Manaslu Circuit trek.
